In July the afternoon reaches 44 °C on the floor, against 34 °C on the rim. The best months to hike are in November. The floor passes 35 °C from June to September: walk at dawn and carry water. The rim freezes at night from December to March. The wettest months are from March to April and from November to January.

Zarangush Canyon is a canyon in Iran, cut by the Zarangush River. The relief model measures 349 m from the floor to the lower rim, and 1,515 m to the higher one. Rim to rim it is 15 km wide where the cut was taken.
