The information on this site is general guidance. Depths and widths are measurements on a 30 m relief model; temperatures and best months are long-term estimates — not a forecast and not a safety assessment. Rivers in canyons rise fast after rain that falls far upstream, rock is loose, and paths may be closed.

Data is used under the licences listed on the data sources page.

Safety in canyons. Check the weather upstream, not just overhead; never enter a narrow canyon when rain is forecast anywhere in its basin; carry more water than you think in summer; stay on marked paths and behind barriers at viewpoints. In an emergency in Europe, call 112.
